Physical Assaults, Smear Campaigns, where does it all end?

This is against all the smear campaign against Ms Kiran Bedi, someone who is once again facing the brunt of her detractors... This is what I had to say...

Laughable! All the attempts by the naysayers! The fact remains that Ms Bedi is one of the most honest and upright public servant one has seen. There is a difference between facility and entitlement and of course the use and/or misuse of them. If not a penny claimed went to her own pocket to fund her or her family's lifestyle, there is nothing anybody can charge her with, however vituperative the intent! Let's look at the another long-standing charge against her, which is often misquoted to discredit her character - the case of her daughter's admission while she was in Mizoram... How many of those detractors really know anything about that case at all?? I do because I belong to that area and I had followed the merits of that case then and even today I respect Ms Bedi for having lived through and survived that period of relentless criticism, all because she was a women, who achieved a lot due to her honest, upright, and fearless character!!! For those interested, here's one true version of that case (quoting someone else, whom I can credit if someone asks for) -

When she was posted in Mizoram, her daughter had topped the Class XII CBSE exams from that state. As per the rules (which still prevail, by the way), she was entitled to admission in professional colleges from the Mizoram quota as her parent was a government official posted there. Even later, the child was given admission in a reputed Delhi medical college based on this same rule. There was an agitation in Mizoram because many people there did not like the fact that a non-Mizo was being given admission through the Mizoram quota. And since it was Kiran Bedi, a lot of heat was built up in the national media. She had to leave Aizawl quietly one day  in the early hours. Everyone heaved a sigh of relief, but nobody was willing to admit it. She has been accused of not informing her seniors when she did this. Nobody wants to admit that if she had done so, the news could well have been leaked out, and that would have been dangerous to say the least, given the state of affairs there.

Ms Bedi's daughter wasn't the first to take benefit of this rule and she won't be the last. Since getting admission through a common entrance examination to a professional college is a Herculean task which gets tougher every year, many officials who take hardship postings hope that their children can avail of this facility.  Besides this, there are many officials who are sent on punishment postings (it is said Ms Bedi's was one such, though I don't know), and their children get cut off from the mainstream in these far flung areas. In these circumstances, their kids deserve some protection. Madhya Pradesh is one of the few states in India which has a military quota in medical and engineering colleges for the children of Defence personnel serving in the state for some minimum period.

If you knew this fact, will your conscience still paint her black?? Sick state of the nation full of sick people today! It's a pity!
